Last weekend I had the long overdue pleasure and delight of visiting this most beautiful Botanic Garden. I've heard about this place for some time, but had never visited until now..... and I'm so glad I finally did!!
The Arboretum is situated on 30 hectares, in between Tailem Bend and Wellington here in South Australia. It is conservation based and houses a huge range of Australias threatened flora. The site was established and is maintained by a group of Volunteers and is managed by the Coorong District Council. It also has support from Community Groups, Businesses and Individuals.
I was just in awe of the smorgasbord of beautiful plants to admire - Banksias, Hakeas, Grevilleas, Eucalypts, Erimophilas and so many more. There were New Holland Honey Eaters in abundance and I believe there are many more birds that can be spotted. It is amazing how much beauty can be grown in what was once a weed infested and eroded sand drift. What a wonderful job these clever people have done and continue to do with this
incredible native garden..... I take my hat off to them.
I came across so much inspiration for my botanical work and have popped a few snaps below of just some of the beauties I discovered. I can't wait until my next visit!!!

In just over a week the wonderful annual Botanica Exhibition held in the Sydney Botanic Gardens will be opening their doors once again at the Lion Gate Lodge. Exhibiting a spectacular range of botanical works with the exciting
theme of "Birds and the Bees" superbly crafted by many of Australias leading Botanical Artists.
I am once again fortunate to have an original piece selected to hang for sale. A large selection of my Limited Edition Prints will also be available for purchase. The little original piece I managed to complete just in time, is of a Blue Banded Bee on a French Lavender - painted in watercolour and finished in graphite.
If you love Botanical Art & you happen to be in Sydney, this is a must see exhibition.
